One of my favorite French restaurants in Japan, Son Deconné, has a chef who happens to be friends with the chef at Onyva. When I heard they were collaborating on a pop-up event in Japan, my curiosity was piqued. So, I decided to take a trip to Seoul—part adventure, part date—to see what all the buzz was about. The result? Onyva easily secured a spot in my top three dining experiences of 2024. From the natural wine selection featuring gems like Domaine Mosse and Duchêne, to fried dishes so memorable they lingered long after the meal, there was a certain resonance in flavor that reminded me of Son Deconné. And the atmosphere? Effortlessly cool, with just the right amount of edge.
Great carthe blanche menu of seasonal local produce. Super knowledgeable chefs team and sommelier who tailor their recommendations on your preferences
Incredible all around - the atmosphere, food, and most of all the awesome team - we loved hearing about the stories behind the food and getting to see the kitchen and process! Thank you so much!
It is such a beautiful experience, the food is creative & delicious. I love the dish with the crispy pork skin and pig ear the most! Sommelier is very knowledgeable and she definitely knows her wine. It is overall a very welcoming space with service and food that can fit diff taste/personality to match.
We found the restaurant on the Michelin guide. As it was our last evening in Seoul before traveling back to France, we wanted something special. Onyva was a truly exceptional experiencing, blending Korean cuisine with French classics. We had their tasting menu offering, and added one entrée each on top of it which were a ceviche and a conch sea served with sourdough bread and butter & garlic sauce - simply delicious. The service was also outstanding, with great attention to detail and explanation of all the dishes. Whilst we didn’t order any wine bottle, I must also add that the restaurant has an extensive wine list and wine cellar. Regarding the atmosphere, we ate a the comptoir. I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of space, and you have a direct view on the kitchen. Finally, the staff and owner are all very friendly. We chatted for a bit and she recommended us a couple of places and museums. Thank you to the team again for making our last night in Seoul so special !
You're be surprised by how good the food is. Must try is the tasting menu. It's like a opening a mystery box one by one. The owner Summer really put a lot of heart n soul into each dish!
Every dish was exceptional. The host was friendly and welcoming but also very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. Nice ambiance. My standout favorite was the sesame ice cream dessert—I've never encountered flavors like that before. If you're looking to try something unique in Korea with a French twist, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
I highly recommend to bring riesling or fruity pinot noir that goes really well with today's bar course menu. The dishes are full of creativity inspired by korean food.
